Seven slightly crazy aunts (again)

They are back!

Little Red Riding Hood embroidery

how awesome is this embroidery based on one of my Little Red Riding Hoods?
Skillfully executed by lagidgette - here is her flickr page
Her niece was upset about wolf eating Little Red Riding Hood and her grandma and this embroidery will definitely cheer her up. Wolf and Red are friends!

Festive cardboard town

Lately I have been slightly obsessed with old European towns, well at least my version of the old European town, case in point - couple of small children fishing on the lake surrounded by a small red-roofed town.

So when my husband showed me some cardboard dividers I immediately new what I can make from them - cardboard town.

Here is how the cardboard dividers look. They are used as a packaging material for mailing and storing small fragile objects. Several of them can be assembled together using long cutouts on the bottom to form a 3D grid. But once disassembled they are ideally suited to make buildings, or even whole blocks of buildings.
Just cut out some windows and fold. I also used some acrylic paints, pencils and ink pen to give my town some additional color.

Here is the final result.

Some detail shots.

As you can see I also added cardboard trees to cover up some awkward spaces between the buildings.

Finally, I added lights behind my little town and voila - little town all decked out for the holidays
right on my fireplace mantle.

"Little Red Riding Hood brushing wolf's teeth"
Before the start of the "Is that you, Little Red Riding Hood?" show I decided to randomly choose one of the LRRH suggestions submitted to me, illustrate it and give it to the author. And - this is it! The author can pick it up from the "Sweet Mabel" starting tomorrow evening. Thank you for you wonderful idea!

I have 3 more suggestion for the new adventures of Little Red Riding Hood to illustrate - 2 of them have to do with current economic situation :( I have chose current affairs to be the subject of my drawings, but there is always the first time for anything. I'll try my best.
Hello dear friends. It is April 2nd and I am still working on illustrating your great ideas for the new adventures of Little Red Riding Hood. Today's suggestion - Little Red Riding Hood, Grandma, and Wolf are at the psychiatrist's office. The person who suggested it thought that one of the psychiatrist might be one of the woodcutters, but I decided he must no other but Sigmund Freud (but check out the drawings on the wall all kind of woodcutting-related images; and here you can see Freud's couch that inspired all the colorful patters http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Freud_Sofa.JPG).
Also, check out his notes :)

As a bonus - awesome drawing by my daughter Nina - Little Pink Riding Hood is attacked by the big Red Wolf.
